Arsenal Vs Swansea : Birds of a Feather

Top of the day to you!!

Never know what time a reader might be reading a post on the Internet or what time I end up even publishing it, so I can’t tell the appropriate salutation to start a post with that’s why I never say hello, but I think Top of the day does just fine!! Or does it? What if you a have someone reading at night, Top of the night maybe? Oh well!!

So, it’s another visit to the Swans, last week I wrote a preview for the Stoke game expressing loads of hate towards the club, the post got retweeted a lot by a certain Stoke twitter account and I spent a huge part of my weekend reading hate tweets from Stoke fans. Honestly, I enjoyed it, gave me a picture of the amount of stick fans give each other on match days in England. After the game though we all made peace, was easier for me certainly because we stoked them!

Ironically, we now play a team I really love. Swansea, if I ever had a second team in England it would be them, they are a replica of us. Lovely passing football, steady focused management, a club that lives absolutely within its means and has proven you can be successful doing so, a club that builds on team ethics rather than super star players, a very sound manager (though I have not forgiven the Laudrup brothers for the damage they did to Nigeria at the World Cup) and an eye for real quality in the transfer market. This whole paragraph can describe Arsenal right? Now you see why I love them.

Swansea, Carling cup winners from last year have crashed out of the competition already this year . Seems competing in the Europa cup is already taking its toll on the team, no one loves playing on Spursday and except you have a big Europa cup squad like Spurs it’s definitely going to have its effect on you, see Newcastle from last season.

Arsenal have continued their rich vein of form and everything seems to be perfect around us save for our continual injury problems. Walcott joined the injury league just before the Stoke game and has had a successful stomach surgery. He should be available in 3-5weeks. You can find all the injury update from the managers press conference here .  Silent Stan spoke to John Cross of the Daily Mirror and he said all the things you would love to hear, his love for the club, Wenger and how Ozil’s signing wasn’t just to make a statement.  Glad to hear him talk, we have to agree that from a financial perspective Arsenal is a very well-run club, transferring this to on the pitch success is where our problems lie.

Its four straight wins in the league and considering the amount of injuries we have suffered to our first team that is an amazing run which we hopefully will continue this weekend. Our last visit to The Liberty stadium has good memories as we came out with a victory with goals from Nacho and Gervinho.

We still have Walcott out and that will harm our pace going forward, Serge did a great job down that flank against Stoke and would be first choice to play there.  Wilshere would continue with his job from the left side of attack and the manager has spoken highly of how he is sacrificing himself for the team considering his normal position would be where Ozil currently sits. Our midfield should Flamini be passed fit should consist of Flamini, Ozil and Ramsey who also has to pass a late fitness test. You would expect Wilshere to join the team a lot more in the middle leaving room for Gibbs to run down that flank to put in crosses into the box. This game should suit Ozil very well as Swansea are not a team set up to man mark players.

Player to Watch: Mesut Ozil

Two wins, two loses and a draw has given them 7points on the log table, considering they have played Man Utd, Spurs and Liverpool, that is a very nice return. They also got an amazing victory against Valencia in Spain last week which should boost their confidence coming into this game.

The swans have enjoyed playing Arsenal since they got into the premiership with two victories against us also forcing us into a replay last season in the FA Cup. Signing of the season, Michu has got into goal scoring form again and should be a threat. Swansea also bought well in the transfer window with acquisition of Bony and he would give our defense something to worry about should he start. Club captain Ashley Williams who was heavily linked with us during the transfer window is out injured .

Player to Watch : Michu

Swansea 1 – Arsenal 2 (Ozil to score his first goal for the club)

Battle to Watch

Flamini vs Michu  (Michu tends to play behind the striker and I would love to see how Flamini would do a job on him)
